Falafel Sundays

(Animated Short)

Falafel Sundays started its journey as a creative collaboration between two individuals with a nostalgia for student life in London. It graced the festival circuit from 2019 to 2020, coming in as a finalist and winning several awards in over a dozen festivals around the world.

"The short is about a connection to a time, food and a person who serves it.

It revolves around fleeting connections and tiny interactions, that become a part of our nostalgic past. Finding meaning within the meaningless, heart within the perfunctory performance of everyday existence, and humour out of the infinitesimal scraps of emotion buried under the dust of the immense."

BBC Bitesize

(Educational Video)

I had the opportunity to work in-house at Sun and Moon Studios in Bristol on BBC's Bitesize series. The project involved character lipsyncing for two of their animated shorts and character animation in another.

Working with a small team under director Dan Keeble, meant that I was able to zone in and focus on bringing my best to the table. The animations were made entirely within Adobe Flash (now known as Animate CC), which meant I had to use my extensive knowledge of symbols and vectors. The video provided shows the lipsync animation I had done for the project.

Electric Green Animated Explainer

(Explainer Video)

An animated explainer covering the incredible tech used at Electric Green.

This project involved detailed storyboard and animatic work, before delving into the fullscale 3D production pipeline. As a solo freelancer
I got hands on experience at modelling, texturing and creating
dynamic 3D shots.

The aim of the explainer was to create an understanding of the evolution that e-vehicles and charging ports have gone on, and how Electric Green have positioned themselves as the future of the industry.

BBC's 'The Listening Project'

(Animated Short)

I had the honour of creating an animated short based on a podcast for the BBC. It is about Faiza and Lauren's post that went viral, when they showed that beneath the headscarf, they were the same. The short was animated and directed by me, featuring voice-over from the podcast of the same name.

I chose to animate this conversation because I felt that the story of how Faiza and Lauren’s friendship started was beautiful, and that the subject matter itself was very important. Their bond has developed around a time where prejudice against Muslims is very real, and the underlying theme of unity in this short is a message people need to hear.

Tyson Fury Documentary Channel 5

(Rotoscopy for Documentary)

The brief for this incredible project was to rotoscope shots for North One Television’s documentary ‘Tyson Fury: Rise & Fall Of The Gypsy King’ that aired on Channel 5. It focused on the past, present and future of the legendary British boxer Tyson Fury. The shots I animated were flashbacks of his life, from winning to battling alcoholism and drug abuse.

A tight deadline of two weeks for hand drawn, frame by frame rotoscope animation meant that I had to get creative. I used the native mocha tool in After Effects for efficient rotoscoping, which gave me enough time to focus on building textures onto the shots to create that gritty vintage look.
